We eat only a light dessert after a holiday feast with hearty dishes. Some even leave the sweet treat for the next day. Therefore, you need to cook something that can stay fresh and tasty until the morning. Dog bone cookies are great for a holiday dinner or just morning tea.

Today Cook It is going to tell you how to make such a simple sweet treat at home. Try decorating these cookies with glaze patterns, the holiday table will become even more elegant!

Steps

1
Done

Take the butter out of the fridge a few hours before cooking. Beat it with sugar using a mixer for 7–8 minutes to lighten the mixture and increase its volume. Add an egg without stopping whipping.

2
Done

Mix flour with baking powder, sift. Combine with whipped butter and vanilla extract, knead until smooth. Roll it into a ball, cover with plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

3
Done

Roll out a dough sheet ¼ inch (7 mm) thick. Cut out hearts from it. Connect them with the sharp sides so they overlap a bit (about ⅓ inch (1 cm)). Shape them and make a narrowed center.

4
Done

Bake on a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper or silicone mat, about 10 minutes at 350 °F (180 °C). Take out as soon as the edges are slightly browned.

Serve the cooled cookies with tea and jam. Treat your friends with this light dessert!

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
