Salisbury steak is one of those dishes you can order in a restaurant or simply reheat a store-bought one. But nothing compares with fresh homemade patties and delicious gravy, don’t you agree?

Today Cook It is going to present you with a simple recipe for Salisbury steak. Such a meal idea will make your weeknight dinner even cozier and easier-to-prepare!



Place ground beef, egg, tomato paste, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, breadcrumbs, pepper and salt in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. Shape 4 oblong patties from the mixture.


Melt butter in a large preheated pan. Place the patties into the pan and cook them for a couple of minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove the patties from the pan and set aside.


Dice an onion. Add it to the pan. Slightly reduce the heat. Caramelize for about 15 minutes. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of flour and mix. Cook until the flour is golden-brown. Add thyme, cook for 30 seconds. Gradually pour broth and soy sauce while stirring. Raise the heat back.


Add the patties to the pan. Bring to a simmer. Cover with a lid and cook for 15 minutes or until cooked.


Remove the dish from the heat and serve warm.

Serve these delicious patties with lots of gravy, mashed potatoes and peas in butter on the side. So simple and tasty. Bon appetit!
