If you like pie and quiche recipes and want to make something unusual this time, try this tender quiche with grits, bacon, and cheddar cheese.

This gluten-free casserole is perfect if you crave something that is both creamy and has a delicious crust. Bacon and cheese also make the dish a great filling breakfast option.

Steps

1
Done

Cook the bacon until crisp. Save 2 teaspoons of drippings and pour them into a saucepan. Add butter, milk, whisk in the grits and add half of the salt and pepper. Cook and stir until very thick.

2
Done

Remove from the heat. Stir in 1 cup (110 g) of cheese. 10 minutes later, stir in 1 egg. Grease a springform and pour the mixture into it. Bake at 350 °F (180 °C) for 25 minutes. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese onto the grits.

3
Done

In a large bowl, combine half and half, heavy cream, sliced scallions, 5 eggs, and the rest of the salt and pepper. Pour the mixture over the grits. Top off with chopped bacon.

4
Done

Line a baking sheet with foil. Place the springform onto it. Bake at 325 °F (160 °C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Be sure to try this hearty casserole and tell us what you think. Bon appetit!

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
