Cottage cheese pastries aren’t always sweet cakes, puffs, or rolls. This fermented milk product goes perfectly with different varieties of ordinary hard cheese. You can make marvelous savory treats using this unique ensemble.

Cottage cheese bagels make a great appetizer, breakfast, or snack. Besides, they are quick to make, as you do not have to wait hours for the dough to rise. Just knead the dough and bake soft and tender pastries.

Steps

1
Done

Grate cheese on the coarse side of the grater and combine it with cottage cheese. Add egg and mix thoroughly.

2
Done

Sift flour into a bowl, add baking powder, sugar, and salt. Stir in the cheese mass.

3
Done

Add 3 ⅓ oz (100 ml) of milk to the dough and stir. Knead the dough, then divide it into eight equal parts and form a bagel from each.

4
Done

Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Brush each pastry with the remaining milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake them for 25 minutes at 360 °F.

Serve bagels hot from the oven. Be careful not to overbake them; otherwise, they will turn out dry. If you want, add your favorite flavorings to the dough to make the taste more piquant.

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.
