Want to cook something with tomatoes, but old recipes no longer impress you? Try this tomato puff pastry! It is a great savoury appetizer. This delicious pastry is perfect as any meal, and you can serve it at various events.

This pastry isn’t difficult to cook at all. It’s made using a store bought dough, after all. If you are a fan of home baking, making the dough yourself also works fine!

Steps

1
Done

Place puff pastry on a baking sheet. Cut it into even squares about 1 ½ by 1 ½ inches (4 by 4 cm).

2
Done

Grease the dough with milk using a pastry brush.

3
Done

Cut the tomatoes into circles about ¼ inch wide (½ cm). Place each one in the middle of each dough piece. Sprinkle with pepper thoroughly.

4
Done

Put the dough in an oven, preheated to 350 °F (180 °C), cook for 15–20 minutes.

5
Done

While the dough is being baked, rinse the basil and separate the leaves from the stems. Finely chop the leaves. Then chop a large clove of garlic. Combine prepared ingredients in a bowl and season with olive oil.

6
Done

Remove the pastry from the oven, put the mixture of basil and garlic on top of tomatoes. Sprinkle with sea salt.

If you plan on cooking something else for dinner, we recommend seafood. For example, boiled shrimp is the fastest to cook and it also goes well with this delicious tomato pastry!

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
