Turning an ordinary sausage into a delicious appetizer is easy. As a matter of fact, you will only need some vegetables and half a bottle of beer. A few graceful movements with a knife, a hot oven, and beer-braised sausages with onions will grace your table.

The sauce is the signature of the dish. In the cooking process, beer-braised red onion coupled with tomatoes turns into aromatic gravy. Incredibly, such a fabulous, filling appetizer requires only a minimum amount of ingredients.

Steps

1
Done

Cut smoked sausage into large pieces. Make a few cuts on each.

2
Done

Slice onions into half rings, cut tomatoes in half. Combine, add salt, pepper, and sunflower oil, mix.

3
Done

Transfer the vegetables to ovenware. Put pieces of sausage on top and cover with beer.

4
Done

Preheat the oven to 360 °F. Bake for 50 minutes until golden brown.

Serve the hot beer-braised sausages with slices of fresh bread. Tear off chunks and dip them directly into the thick sauce. You could also add the vegetable gravy to boiled potatoes. Food's on the table, just dive in!

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.
