Classic Lasagna With Meat Sauce

Hey, fellow Italian food lovers! Are you looking to make a hearty, comforting meal that will satisfy all the hungry mouths around the dining table? Look no further: it does not get any better than this classic lasagna with meat sauce.

Whenever you’re worried about getting everything done in time for dinner, remember this hands-off recipe that requires no more than 20 minutes of prep and 50 minutes of cooking. There are many different variations and flavors of lasagna, but today, we will be focusing on the classic version. It features a meat sauce and the unbeatable combination of mozzarella and Parmesan. Does the mere thought of the appetizing aroma of the dish make your mouth water? If so, let’s get cooking!



To begin with, preheat the oven to 375 °F.


Combine ricotta, 2 oz (60 g) mozzarella, 2 tablespoons of parsley, butter, oregano, 1 minced garlic clove, and egg; set aside.


Place ground beef in a skillet over heat; season with black and red pepper and remaining 4 crushed garlic cloves. Cook until the meat is browned, about 9 minutes; drain. Return the beef mixture to the pan, add marinara sauce, mix, and remove from heat.


Coat a baking dish with cooking spray before covering the bottom with ½ cup of the meat sauce.


Next, cut the bottom third off each lasagna sheet to form 6 long and 6 short sheets, then cut the short ones in half, so you end up with 12 of them. Arrange 2 long pieces along the outside edges of the dish and 4 short pieces along the center.


Top the lasagna sheets with 1 cup of the meat sauce. Place 2 long sheets and 4 short sheets on top, then cover with the ricotta mixture and 1 cup of the meat sauce. Cover with the remaining 2 long sheets and 4 short sheets. Top with the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan before covering with tinfoil coated with cooking spray.


Cook at 375 °F for half an hour. Uncover and cook until bubbly, about 10 minutes.


Keeping the lasagna in the oven, preheat the broiler to high.


Broil the lasagna until the cheese turns golden brown, about 2 minutes.


Remove the dish from the oven and let the lasagna sit for 10 minutes before sprinkling it with the remaining parsley. Finally, cut it into pieces and serve.
