The word ‘lasagna’ is like a magnet to everyone. It is next to impossible to find a person who would be indifferent to this dish. Since you seldom have lasagna sheets lying around in your kitchen, you have to experiment. Do not expect this dish to be identical to the traditional one (after all, this is a “fake” lasagna), but the appearance, ingredients, and the method of assembly are very similar.

Firstly, this lasagna is simple to make, and it requires the most affordable ingredients. Secondly, the cooking time is minimal, and the taste is delicious and mild, with a bright tomato flavor, pleasantly stretchy cheese, and an aroma of basil and oregano. Our recipe does not include the preparation of the béchamel sauce; everything is whipped up on the fly and baked in the oven for 20 minutes. Fake lasagna with cheese is a delicious and simple dish that will appeal to both adults and children!

Steps

1
Done

Purée tomatoes in a blender. Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper and pour olive oil to taste; mix thoroughly and set aside.

2
Done

Cut off the crust of the bread pieces. Cut mozzarella into slices. Preheat the oven to 360 °F.

3
Done

Brush a baking dish with olive oil, arrange the slices of bread by placing them tightly next to each other, and creating high edges — this will be the first layer. Spread a third of the tomato sauce on the bread, put slices of mozzarella over the entire surface, and sprinkle it with grated parmesan.

4
Done

Lay out the second and third layers of bread, sauce, and cheese in the same way. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with Parmesan and add a couple of pinches of oregano. Let the lasagna bake for 20 minutes. Remove the ready dish from the oven and let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

If you are not in the habit of using oregano or you do not like the spice, replace it with your preferred herbs; you can add oregano solely to the sauce.

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.
