Today we would like to share with you a recipe that is common for the Southern United States. This dish always reminds me of the novel “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe”. Such a recipe is a great way to make something delicious when you have a lot of vegetables in summer.

These delicious tomatoes are so easy to whip up and need only 5 ingredients and some seasoning. Once you try them, the dish will surely become one of your favorites!

Cut large green tomatoes into approximately ¼-inch (⅔ cm) slices.

Beat the egg and milk in a bowl. Mix the coarse cornmeal with salt and pepper separately.

Melt the butter in a skillet. Dip the tomatoes first in the milk mixture, then in the cornmeal. Fry for 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.

According to the recipe from the novel, you just need to salt and pepper the tomatoes and dredge them in cornmeal. We advise you to try both techniques. Fried green tomatoes go great with scrambled eggs, stewed beans, and corn. Bon appetit!
