Today we’re going to try the recipe for fried watermelon. You can fry it in a skillet or use a grill. Even if this recipe won’t become your favorite, you will definitely have fun making it.

This cooking technique is especially good if you bought a huge watermelon, and it turned out to be not very sweet. Powdered sugar and ice cream will save the day!

Steps

1
Done

Cut the watermelon across into ¾-inch (2 cm) thick circles. Then cut the rind off so that you get a square piece of flesh.

2
Done

Cut the piece diagonally. It's these 2 watermelon triangles that we're going to cook.

3
Done

Pat the watermelon dry using paper towels.

4
Done

Now let's prepare the bread crumb mixture. Pour the starch and the powdered sugar in a bowl and thoroughly mix.

5
Done

Heat a skillet and melt a piece of butter on it. Then reduce the heat to medium. Dredge the watermelon in the bread crumb mixture. Do it very carefully. You can even lightly press the mixture onto the surface.

6
Done

Fry a slice of watermelon on one side, then flip it over. Repeat the process several times every 3 minutes. This will create a crust.

A watermelon fried in bread crumbs should have a hard caramel crust on the outside. Top it off with scoops of ice cream and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Enjoy your meal!

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
