This modest and charming artisan pastry is often tastier than fancy store-bought desserts. Besides, making an apple pie with cottage cheese is very simple: you will only need a few affordable and healthy ingredients. Interestingly, it is one of the oldest recipes that have survived to this day. Imagine our ancestors enjoying this dessert, as we encourage you to enjoy it!

Apple pie with cottage cheese is very tender, lush, fragrant, moderately sweet, and it literally melts in your mouth! The classic tandem of cinnamon and vanilla harmoniously emphasizes the combination of a moist apple layer with a delicious cottage cheese cream.

Peel apples and cut them into small cubes, then place them in a thick-walled pan. Add 3 tablespoons of sugar, cinnamon, and water. Simmer the fruit for 15 minutes over low heat until soft, then puree using a blender.

Rub the cottage cheese through a sieve, add sour cream, 3 tablespoons of sugar, half of the vanilla sugar, and mix. Separately whisk the remaining vanilla sugar with eggs and vegetable oil.

Add flour, baking powder, and salt to the egg mixture, knead a soft dough and divide it into two parts: large and small. Roll out the large lump and line the bottom and sides of a baking dish with the dough.

Place the cottage cheese filling on the dough and the apple filling on top. Roll out the small dough lump, cut it into strips, and use them to make a lattice pie crust. Pop the pie in the oven preheated to 340 °F for 40 minutes. Let cool before slicing.

Pie with cottage cheese and apples looks so appetizing in and of itself that it does not need any garnishing with icing, cream, chocolate, icing sugar, or whipped cream. Although if you do have a sweet tooth and a flair for presentation, you won't ruin it by making it yours, promise!
