Chicken and mushrooms are a classic fusion suitable for any type of dough. It is not surprising that chefs love combining these products: after all, airy homemade buns or chicken and mushroom pies are unparalleled!

Fortunately, there exists a myriad of recipes for the latter. Both experienced chefs and kitchen newbies will be able to find something they like. On our part, we would like to share with you a versatile, simple, and quick recipe for a chicken and mushroom shortcrust pie.

Steps

1
Done

Rub flour and butter, add 1 egg and water. Knead the dough. Form a ball, wrap it in cling film and pop in the refrigerator for half an hour.

2
Done

To make the filling, boil chicken breasts and cut them into cubes. Slice onions and mushrooms and fry them in a pan.

3
Done

Add chicken fillet to the mushrooms and simmer for another 5–7 minutes.

4
Done

Finely grate cheese. Whip cream with eggs and cheese.

5
Done

Place the dough into a mold and spread it over the entire surface and sides. Then distribute the filling and cover everything with the egg mixture.

6
Done

Bake the pie for 30–40 minutes at 390 °F.

You can serve the chicken and mushroom pie hot from the oven, not waiting until it cools. Such beauty can enrich both a festive table and an ordinary family dinner. To speed up the cooking process, boil the chicken fillet and knead the dough in the evening, and merely finish preparing the filling and bake the pie itself in the morning. Have a wonderful meal!

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.
