Recipe
You could be excused for believing that French cuisine is a complicated affair starring super sophisticated, elaborate dishes you can rarely repeat at home. However, the beloved French onion soup requires a mere 30 minutes and a minimum set of ingredients. As a matter of fact, this entree features onions and croutons with cheese. Simple yet incredibly delicious.
The key to preparing perfect French onion soup is to caramelize onions. The vegetable releases its natural sugars, so the taste of the soup will be somewhat sweetish. You’d better taste it to make sure!

Pour the soup into bowls and add the croutons. Garnish with chopped scallions and pepper. |
Use a French baguette to make croutons, like in the traditional recipe. If you want, season the soup with your preferred spices. We recommend letting the soup sit for a bit under a lid before serving so that the taste becomes more saturated.
