First of all, gnocchi are great because they are versatile and easy to make. The thing is that for the dough you can take various foods. For example, wheat, corn, rice and even dry bread or pumpkin. Today we would like to make delicious potato gnocchi in tomato sauce.

Of course, the spicy tomato paste, prepared specifically for these gnocchi, perfectly combines moderate pungency and sweetness from tomatoes. Serve gnocchi with tomato sauce as a main course or appetizer and enjoy a hearty and tasty treat.

Steps

1
Done

Wash the potatoes and boil them for 20 minutes. Then peel and grate. Season the potato mixture with salt and add the flour. Knead the dough.

2
Done

Sprinkle the surface with flour, roll out the potato dough and divide it into 14 parts. Press each part lightly with a fork and put in boiling salted water for 7 minutes.

3
Done

Heat olive oil in a pan and put chopped onions in there, then chopped garlic and a chili pepper, thoroughly mix the ingredients. Add herbs, pepper, salt, and then tomatoes. Stir and cook until the tomatoes are soft.

4
Done

Season the tomato mixture with salt and grind it in a blender. Serve gnocchi with the finished tomato sauce.

Potato gnocchi in tomato sauce are quick and easy to make. But there is one secret: you need to cook a dish from old and hard potatoes, which contain a lot of starch. New potato dough can just fall apart when cooked.

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
