Homemade desserts are a delight for any chef who wants to surprise family and guests with their superb culinary skills. However, it is not always necessary to have a lot of experience and spend hours at the stove to make delicious sweets. Our vegan homemade gumdrops are excellent proof!

Gumdrops are a quick dessert with minimum ingredients. Moreover, today we have prepared for you a recipe for homemade vegan berry gumdrops. We substituted gelatin for a more beneficial, vegan component — agar-agar. It is obtained from algae that contain iodine, calcium, and iron that are necessary for the body. We recommend taking note of this product and subsequently completely replace ordinary gelatin.

Steps

1
Done

Pour room-temperature water into a bowl, add agar-agar, mix, and set aside. Let agar-agar bloom.

2
Done

Puree berries until smooth or rub the mass through a sieve. If you have chosen frozen berries, let them melt first and do not drain the liquid.

3
Done

Add sugar to the berry mass and mix thoroughly.

4
Done

Pour the swollen agar-agar into a pan, bring it to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. Boil the mixture for 2 minutes, then add the prepared berries with sugar.

5
Done

Boil the mass for a few more minutes while continuously stirring, and then remove it from heat. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. Stir it occasionally so that the film disappears, and the mass remains homogeneous.

6
Done

Take your preferred mold and line it with cling film (you can skip this if you are using a silicone mold). Fill it with the berry mass. Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate until completely frozen.

7
Done

Remove the berry mass from the mold and cut it into cubes. You can either leave them as they are or roll the pieces in sugar or coconut.

The beauty of this homemade gumdrops recipe is in its versatility — you can use any berries and adjust the sourness by adding sugar. Try experimenting with the dessert and make gumdrops in small silicone candy molds. This unique and delightful treat is excellent for decorating your festive table!

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!|
