Cinnamon rolls are perfect for any breakfast and Sunday brunch. However, their recipe ordinarily calls for measuring out a bunch of ingredients, mixing and kneading the dough in a mixer, waiting for the yeast to rise properly — twice! It is no wonder that, more often than not, we opt for running to the nearest bakery to get them.

Today, we’re eager to offer a solution: no-yeast cinnamon rolls you can whip up while your oven is heating up. Furthermore, they feature only seven staple ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen already. Let’s make some easy, practically irresistible cinnamon rolls!

Steps

1
Done

Preheat the oven to 350 °F.

2
Done

Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.

3
Done

Combine ½ cup of the sugar and the cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.

4
Done

Combine flour and the remaining sugar in a large bowl. Next, mix milk and 4 tablespoons of melted butter in a medium bowl. Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir until homogenous.

5
Done

Transfer the dough onto a surface sprinkled with flour and knead until smooth.

6
Done

Roll out the dough into a 24x10-inch-long, quarter-inch thick rectangle.

7
Done

Brush the surface of the dough with 2 tablespoons of the melted butter. Evenly sprinkle it with the sugar and cinnamon mixture, leaving a half-inch border.

8
Done

Form a roll and pinch together the edges.

9
Done

Cut the dough crosswise into 15 pieces.

10
Done

Place the cut rolls cut-side up in the baking dish and brush them with the remaining melted butter.

11
Done

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (approximately 35 minutes).

12
Done

Meanwhile, combine powdered sugar, milk, and salt in a medium bowl and whisk until smooth.

13
Done

When the cinnamon rolls are ready, drizzle them evenly with the glaze and let cool slightly.

To prepare cinnamon rolls quicker and easier, we replaced yeast with self-rising flour — a combination of flour, baking powder, and salt. Baking powder gives the no-yeast cinnamon rolls a fluffiness that could rival that of their yeasted cousin's. Fresh homemade cinnamon rolls are calling your name — grab the necessary ingredients and give these a try!

I am an English major with a love of languages and fiction, and with an incurable travel bug. In my free time, I read fantasy, drink copious amounts of coffee, and like to go see movies. Culinary art means everything to me. My main hypostasis is the taster, though. The music school has taught me to appreciate the symphony of airy meringues, to create harmonious overtures of light snacks, hard rock of meat, fish, and vegetables on the grill. Choir classes have accustomed me to hear and feel the people nearby and create perfect harmonies of sounds.
