My kids are not picky eaters. They eat their lunch, gladly run to dinner, and always take the snacks to school. But somehow it didn’t work out with breakfast. I understand them because I also can’t bring myself to eat in the morning. The only thing that brings me joy after sleep is a breakfast pizza sandwich!

Some will say that such a recipe has nothing in common with the famous Italian dish. I don’t agree. After all, the filling so much resembles homemade pizza. And besides, my kids like the name “pizza sandwiches” so much more than just sandwiches.

Steps

1
Done

Dice the tomatoes and sausage. Then deseed and dice the bell pepper. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Chop the dill. Mix the ingredients.

2
Done

Season the mixture with salt and stir in the mayonnaise. You can also substitute it with sour cream. Cut the bread into 8 slices. Put them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

3
Done

Spoon the filling onto the bread. Bake the pizza sandwiches in a preheated to 350 °F (180 °C) oven for 10–15 minutes. Serve the snack while it's still hot.

Instead of regular sausages, you can also use smoked ones. These pizza sandwiches are my kids' favorite breakfast at the time. They even take the leftovers as a snack to school. Be sure to give this recipe a try!

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
