Today we would like to share with you a recipe for delicious homemade salsa. The classic Mexican recipe uses tomatoes, herbs, onions, garlic, lime juice, and chili peppers.

Of course, not everyone likes spicy dishes, so feel free to experiment with the amount of the main ingredient. It is not necessary to add sugar, but a couple of pinches will help you reduce acidity.

Steps

1
Done

Chop the onion and garlic finely, fry them in hot vegetable oil.

2
Done

Remove the skin from tomatoes, dice them and drain the excess liquid. Place the tomatoes in the skillet, add salt, pepper and sugar.

3
Done

Deseed the chili pepper, chop finely and add to the rest of the ingredients.

4
Done

Add lime juice, stir. Let it simmer, stirring constantly, for another 3 minutes.

5
Done

Finally add chopped cilantro, stir and remove from heat.

There are many variations of salsa nowadays. For example, the ones with mango, watermelon, avocado, black beans, cranberries and more. Also try our restaurant-style salsa recipe.

Like many people nowadays, I love to explore new places. My favorite type is slow travelling, when you can really blend in with locals and learn about new cultures and languages. But I think there are also perfect times for enjoying freshly baked pastry, a cup of fragrant coffee, and a good movie in the comfort of your own home. I guess I'm kind of a cultural omnivore, and I watch different types of movies, but the ones about art and food inspire me the most!
